This is a key technical role: you will define methodologies, mentor junior analysts and serve as the primary GIS reference within the team. We are looking for someone with deep expertise in spatial analysis, strong programming skills and the ability to translate client requirements into robust geospatial solutions.
Responsibilities

- Architect and manage enterprise geodatabases, ensuring data quality, consistency and accessibility
- Develop automated geoprocessing pipelines using Python (arcpy, geopandas, rasterio, shapely)
- Perform advanced spatial modelling: multi-criteria analysis, suitability mapping, change detection, terrain analysis
- Process and analyse satellite imagery (optical and SAR) for monitoring and mapping applications
- Design and produce high-quality cartographic outputs and interactive web maps
- Mentor junior GIS analysts and conduct internal training sessions
- Interface with clients to define requirements, present results and provide technical consultancy
- Evaluate and integrate new geospatial technologies and data sources into company workflows
- Contribute to proposal writing and technical documentation for funded projects
Must-have Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in GIS analysis and spatial data management
- Expert-level proficiency in QGIS and/or ArcGIS Pro with advanced geoprocessing capabilities
- Strong Python programming skills with geospatial libraries (geopandas, rasterio, shapely, fiona, arcpy)
- Deep knowledge of spatial databases: PostGIS, SpatiaLite or enterprise geodatabases
- Experience with remote sensing data processing and analysis (Sentinel, Landsat, commercial VHR)
- Solid understanding of coordinate systems, projections, data formats and OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WCS)
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver quality outputs under deadlines
- Excellent written and spoken English (C1+); Italian required
- Degree in Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Experience with Google Earth Engine, SNAP or ENVI for satellite data processing
- Knowledge of cloud-based geospatial platforms (GEE, AWS geospatial, Azure Maps)
- Familiarity with 3D GIS, CityGML, BIM-GIS integration or digital twin technologies
- Experience with machine learning applied to geospatial data (image classification, object detection)
- Background in LiDAR processing, photogrammetry or UAV mapping
- Contributions to open-source GIS projects or published geospatial research
- PMP or equivalent project management certification
Personal Requirements
- Technical leadership: ability to define methodologies and guide the team towards best practices
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication: able to explain complex spatial concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Self-driven and autonomous with a strong sense of ownership
- Passion for geospatial innovation and continuous learning
- Client-oriented mindset with attention to quality and detail
